Started a little easier this morning. Got going by 9. Walking through a ski area is an interesting hike, but their trails are nice! Wouldn’t mind biking these sometime. Got to Guller Creek at about 10:30 and had a quick snack then headed up the valley. Beautiful!! Lots of great fishing up here. The trail went steadily up but that was good- do it now so we don’t do it all at once. Climbed a few switchbacks out to timberline and got there about 12:30 so we stopped for a lunch break. Made dad a power drink and had some tuna salad with his granola bar. Bunny was not impressed with the sounds of sheep on the other side of the ridge so she was squirrelly. Then while she was grazing she got her leg over the lead and blew up a little and in the process broke the back cinch. Not sure how! So dad fixed that while I held her and tried to keep the saddle on while she squirmed around listening to sheep baa…..but we got it put back together and were on our way.
Dad lost is charging cables yesterday- realized that this morning so he can’t charge his phone. The zipper pocket came undone somewhere on the trail. So frustrating! On the bright side my charger is working great- and is completely charged today. Lots of good sun.
Searle Pass wasn’t too far past our lunch stop so we climbed over it and took off out across a 3.2 mi hike in the alpine to Elkhead Ridge and Kokomo pass. It was fun to walk up there but I was having an early afternoon lul and was sleepy and just tired. Elk
Head ridge made us climb a couple hundred feet to 12,300 and then we headed DOWN to a pass…. Have you ever done that- ’cause I haven’t!! Then about 2 mi past the pass we stopped on Cataract Creek for Camp that night. We got here at a little after 5pm- we are getting better ;).
Dad’s foot hurt all day, but some Vit.I helped a little but we are going to meet mom tomorrow at Camp Hale or vicinity. They will take me to Turq Lake and I will meet Cristin and Anita there Fri night.
