Colorado Trail, Sep 5, 2014- Day 5

Today was full of getting ready for the next segment and meeting Anita and Cristin. I took a shower, did laundry, re-packed my backpack with a new stash of food and fuel and toiletries etc. The. We went into Leadville and looked around at some of the shops. It was nice to relax and eat out at a restaurant. Then we picked up Kemba,Cristin’s dog, at the boarding place “Cold Noses Warm Hearts”. Cute name. Kemba jumped right up n mom’ slap like she knew her and looked at us like” well I’m here what are you waiting for”. So we took of and fed dad’s horse that was at the boarding place ” Halfmoon Outfitters”. We ate all weekend at a local diner that has lots of character called the Brass Ass or Golden Ass. I had the fried chicken dinner twice and it was awesome. The huevos rancheros were also good. Had lots of history on the menu to read. Fun to learn Leadville history. I love the houses here they are small and Victorian cute. Wooden cut outs and bright paint colors made driving the side streets fun. So a great and restorative day on Leadville. Cristin and Anita and Lila got there at about 9pm and they got their tent set up and we all hit the hay.
